I’m Yayehirad (Yaye) Melsew, a clinical data scientist with extensive experience in health data management, analysis, and visualization. Currently, I work as a Senior Data Officer at Monash University, supporting clinical trials and registries by ensuring data integrity, developing analysis-ready datasets, and collaborating with researchers and biostatisticians.
My expertise spans statistical programming (R, Stata, SQL), data governance, and stakeholder communication. With a PhD in Epidemiology from Monash University, I have a strong foundation in biostatistics, infectious disease modeling, and public health research.
In addition to my research work, I have a passion for teaching. I coordinate and lecture Practical Health Data Management (MPH5277) for postgraduate students and Health Data Management (PBH3010) for undergraduate students at Monash University. These courses focus on real-world data management techniques, statistical programming in R, and essential skills for handling health data from collection to analysis. My goal is to equip students with practical knowledge that bridges the gap between academic learning and industry needs.
Through this platform, I share insights on data science applications in healthcare, from data cleaning techniques to advanced analytics. My goal is to bridge the gap between data and decision-making, helping researchers and clinicians make informed choices using high-quality data.
Let’s connect and explore how data can drive better health outcomes!
